Udder health in dairy cows is a key factor in the profitability of dairy farms. Stress, metabolic imbalances, and immune system management are all factors that can compromise udder health, leading to increased somatic cell counts, the onset of mastitis, reduced milk production, and increased use of antibiotics.
In this context, Biodevas Laboratoires developed QUALIMILK, a 100% natural phytogenic solution designed for the entire herd and suitable for use throughout the lactation period. Its goal is to support the mammary health of ruminants by addressing physiological imbalances before they arise.
A synergy of targeted actions
QUALIMILK on a comprehensive approach that relies on four complementary pillars:
- Managing oxidative stress
- Elimination of toxins
- Stimulation of the immune response
- Regulation of proteins involved in inflammation
This combination of actions helps address the physiological mechanisms involved in breast disorders, thereby helping to maintain the body’s balance.
A large-scale field study with SODIAAL and INRAE
As part of the NEOLAC project, QUALIMILK evaluated under real-world farming conditions, in partnership with INRAE and SODIAAL.
The study was conducted:
- On more than 100 dairy farms
- For 18 months
- Out of a total of 7,200 cows
The results observed are significant:
- -30% reduction in the incidence of mastitis
- Greater control over somatic cells
- A measurable economic benefit for the farmer
These data confirm the value of QUALIMILK a complement to good husbandry practices within a comprehensive approach to udder health management.
In-depth scientific validation
In parallel with the field trials, a doctoral thesis (PhD) was conducted in collaboration with several INRAE research units (UMR PEGASE, UMR ISP, UMRH).
This research made it possible to assess the effects of QUALIMILK various biological parameters in dairy cows, including:
- metabolic markers
- markers of oxidative stress
- immune responses
The tests were conducted at an experimental facility under controlled conditions, which helped to improve our understanding of the solution’s mechanisms of action.
