QUALIMILK Proven Results in Collaboration with SODIAAL and INRAE for Dairy Cow Udder Health

Udder health in dairy cows is a key factor in the profitability of dairy farms. Stress, metabolic imbalances, and immune system management are all factors that can compromise udder health, leading to increased somatic cell counts, the onset of mastitis, reduced milk production, and increased use of antibiotics.

In this context, Biodevas Laboratoires developed QUALIMILK, a 100% natural phytogenic solution designed for the entire herd and suitable for use throughout the lactation period. Its goal is to support the mammary health of ruminants by addressing physiological imbalances before they arise.

A synergy of targeted actions

QUALIMILK is based on a comprehensive approach, relying on four complementary pillars:

  • Managing oxidative stress
  • Elimination of toxins
  • Stimulation of the immune response
  • Regulation of proteins involved in inflammation

This combination of actions helps address the physiological mechanisms involved in breast disorders, thereby helping to maintain the body’s balance.

A large-scale field study with SODIAAL and INRAE

As part of the NEOLAC project, QUALIMILK was evaluated under real-world farming conditions, in partnership with INRAE and SODIAAL.

The study was conducted:

  • On more than 100 dairy farms
  • For 18 months
  • Out of a total of 7,200 cows

The results observed are significant:

  • -30% reduction in the incidence of mastitis
  • Greater control over somatic cells
  • A measurable economic benefit for the farmer

These data confirm the value of QUALIMILK as a complement to good husbandry practices, as part of a comprehensive approach to udder health management.

In-depth scientific validation

In parallel with the field trials, a doctoral thesis (PhD) was conducted in collaboration with several INRAE research units (UMR PEGASE, UMR ISP, UMRH).

This research made it possible to assess the effects of QUALIMILK on various biological parameters in dairy cows, including:

  • metabolic markers
  • markers of oxidative stress
  • immune responses

The tests were conducted at an experimental facility under controlled conditions, which helped to improve our understanding of the solution’s mechanisms of action.

New field data confirms the QUALIMILK results

Following the study conducted on more than7,200 cows, as well as the work carried out withSodiaaland INRAE, QUALIMILK now confirms its benefits with new data obtained under real-world farming conditions.

A new trial was conducted on a dairy farm facing recurring issues withsomatic cell countsand mastitis.

The objective of this trial was to monitor changes in somatic cell counts and the occurrence of mastitis before and during supplementation with QUALIMILK, as well as in comparison to the previous winter.

The farm’s77 lactating cowsreceived10 g of QUALIMILK/daycontinuously starting August 4, 2025.

The results observed show adecrease in somatic cell count starting in the first weeks of supplementation, withlevels falling below the penalty threshold as of November 2025.

Changes in cell count (x1000/ml) from April 2025 to January 2026 - Orange line: penalty threshold - Green line: QUALIMILK supplementation period
Number of mastitis cases per month from May 2025 to January 2026 - May through July: before QUALIMILK supplementation QUALIMILK August through January: during QUALIMILK supplementation

Comment from breeder
: “ Back below the penalty threshold—something that hasn’t happened in seven years.”

Adecrease in antibiotic usewas also observed on the farm.

In addition to the effects observed on somatic cell count and mastitis, the farm also recorded an average increase in milk production of 3 kg of milk per lactating cow per day during the period of QUALIMILK supplementation.

Although improving milk production is not the primary objective of the product, these additional findings confirm the importance of proper management of udder health and the animals’ physiological balance for the herd’s overall performance.
