Coccidiosis

A common parasitic disease caused by coccidia (Isospora suis, Eimeria, etc.), single-celled organisms belonging to the Sporozoa phylum. Relatively contagious between animals, coccidiosis is transmitted via the fecal-oral route, and coccidia develop mainly in the intestines of their hosts. Many animal species can be parasitized by coccidia, including poultry, calves, young piglets, goats, etc.
